woah hoah ! ! this still isn't finished, I've got to hand it in for ROA tomorrow, all that needs doing is checking that it's cool for PAL and a little animation on the parts where the guys are static and it should be smart to go!

I've spent too much time trying to run around promoting the project though and haven't finished Rocket or 20's film so they won't be getting submitted. this is a major let down and massive malfunction on my behalf but it's OK as far as the unit itself is concerned, the dead line isn't until the 16th / 19th of June... (canno remember which one, might even be the 9th or 6th, the 9th is my birthday! I'm terrible with numbers., eurrgh).

ANYWAYS right, I've got loads of ABSO-WOOHOO-LOOTLY ! big boss shots from Chuck Jones' "Duck Amuck" and "Ali Baba Bunny". some of the inbetweens are completely insane and some of the BEST drawings I've seen in ages, I'm gonna do a post that shows a bunch of these to all you licky bloggers.

like i said I want to talk a bit more about this cartoon, it deserves a better look than this, y'know? also sorry about the quality of the images, I pulled the movie itself from youtube using that pwnyoutube site.

aargh my charger isn't working so I've got to be super quick, today I'm just uploading a couple more stills from the movie and working up some material for a post on how I've been working and what I've been looking that'll probably go up sometime between tomorrow and friday

As you can see, they are all going MENTALLLL ! ! I love twisting and distorting my characters, trying to make them do impossible things and pushing them to their limits.


Last night I took a load of screen grabs from some old Chuck Jones and Tex Avery cartoons, I spent a good few hours going through them frame by frame looking for all the weird inbetweens, I'm gonna post about them tomorrow cus I'M IN A RUSH TO GET OUTTAAA HERRREE ! ! ! x x t

I try and frequent all of these blogs as much as I can whenever I'm online, the individual artists blogs not so much but the community kinda site like cartoonbrew get opened up eeeven beforrre my emaiiiils bro.

also, I don't have them with me today, but I'm going to scan in and upload my preliminary notes etc, the ones I was doing before I really knew what I was doing and more just like a panic on a paper. I think you'll like um.

ALSO , sorry I've not posted in so long! project-wise I've had a really unproductive weekend and I've been absolutely nowhere near the internet.

Thursday night I went with Jamie Green, Charlie Norward and Leon Gower to rock out in force and in shorts at Artjam. Artjams a monthly kind of free for all open mic art event organised by an American guy called Chris, I'm not sure of his second name but he's huge and lovely.

Friday I checked out a really interesting show put on by a bunch of students at Goldsmiths in an old prison building in New Cross. Some of the highlights included a girl brushing her superlong hair lying in a bath (she must have been freeezing) and footballers on plastercast trophies, fighting and drowning in their own success.

Saturday there was a fete ! in an old cemeteray ! full of people dressed up all pale and spooky, taking photos in front of tombstones. There was face painting and badge making too, and the friends of the badgers society. you don't want to know about the night though. I was wearing a blonde wig and had an oversized travel card...

BUT YEAH am back on it now, I'm gonna post up some thumbnails over the next couple of days as well, so stay tuned folks.. The finished products will be about soon.

ALRIIIIIGHT ! ! was in the sound booth with Julie Zoe, my Norwegian narration girl, I mailed the vocal tracks to my mystery music mans and they had the three 3 second tracks back to me by the evening. I've made another teaser, this one is just for the Fox. It took me a few hours before bed last night and then a few more hours earlier on today.

Right now I'm in mcdonalds again, hyuk hyuk hyuk, suck suck suck - so's that I can update you all and post up the movie (you all... aHAHA ! who READS this? say something!)

oh speaking of say something, David o Reillys PLEASE say something had a spot in the metro (one of the three free london papers) yesterday, not sure who wrote the article but yah... I think I'm PROBABLY gonna be the next feature up in there ho ho soon as they see this Fox mans 3 - 5 pose dancing ho ho

Have had a real Superman weekend, full of transvestites and burlesque dancers, hi-vis party kids, models and traaaamps.

it's from an interactive movie my momma made in the 90's about a girl who wishes for a crazy, cooky, wild kinda guy. You see the flower in the top left corner? Well there was a screen with a bigger version of that and clicking on the different petals would bring up scenes like the one above with Rocket in it, each one with a different guy hassling the lead gal ("Fancy a bit of train spotting doll?").
IT WAS REAL COOL, I used to go on it loads ... it doesn't run on new op systems though.
but yeah, she let me draw Rocket and put him in there. He's got a super deep booming voice and is all like
BABY, LET ME FLY YOU TO THE MOON
and he does too.
clearly the coolest guy in the whole darn show.

I'm surprised she kept him in in, I didn't get put into the credits at all so like... it kind of looks like she just got lazy with him because she's kept him exactly as I drew him.

The music is by a foriegn artist who, at the minute, wants to remain anonymous.
They contacted me after seeing my flickr page asking if I'd be interested in working with them, making their artwork and more or less BEING IN CHARGE OF THEIR WHOLE VISUAL IMAGE. they sent me some tracks and I was like sure guys why not.

But yeah, I'm keeping them secret for now, they don't even want to recieve credit in the movies but they were excited about providing music for it.

The only thing that they DO want me to let you know is that they make all of their material using an old style DS and the Korg DS software that you can check out here on the OFFICIAL WEBSITE.

Okay okay, I'll talk a bit about them as well... jeez. Um, if you look in a couple (the first one and the one with alien in the name, possibly a couple of others too) you'll see that there's a little sprite of an alien with eyes on stalks and big lips. That guy is my inspiration behind all of the boys alien forms. I quite like the idea of them all turning into their own unique versions of him, although it'd be more fun and diverse if they had their own different ones.


I wish I still had the old Kidpix software. I played around on a more recent version not long ago on a friends little sisters computer and I wasn't impressed, it seemed a lot more restrictive than what I remember.

I can remember thinking of each different brush as a different character and on TOP of that you could use different colours for different characters as well, WHOLE WORLDS OF FUN !!

I was thinking of maybe using some of this stuff as backgrounds but I'm not sure. We'll see. I'd like to though ! but I'll speak about that in another post
